About
Erin McKinley:
Throughout
her swimming career, Erin ranked nationally in the Top 16 Age Group and also
competed at a national level representing New Jersey in 2001 and 2002. Erin
continued swimming through to University and finished her swimming career as a
three-time NCAA Division I All-Star Athlete, representing University of New
Hampshire at the East Coast Athletic Conference (2003) and Rutgers University at
the Big East Conference (2005 & 2006).
After her
first year of University, Erin was a pedestrian in a car accident and found
herself unable to train at a collegiate level. In lieu of training, she used her
passion for the water to instill an appreciation for the sport to others. Erin
began her coaching career as a private instructor then branched out to local NJ
teams and became a USA Swimming and American Swimming Coaching Association
coach.
In 2007,
Erin was offered a position as Head Coach of the junior age groups with the Hong
Kong Island Stingrays, a competitive team of 190 swimmers and a learn-to-swim
program of 130 swimmers. Erin went on to coach triathletes with Hong Kong
University’s Institute of Human Performance and Tritons Triathlon Club. Over the
years, Erin has trained hundreds of athletes ranging from ultimate beginners to
ultimate triathletes.
Now back in
the States, Erin plans to attend graduate school this fall and study towards her
MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. A USA Triathlon certified Race Director,
Erin is currently working on a series of events to enhance the multi-sport for
both youth and adults. She currently coaches for X-Cel Swimming located in
Princeton, NJ and looks forward to sharing her energies and experience with
beginner swimmers at The Scuba Connection.
You may see
Erin either running or biking around the Princeton / Montgomery area as she is
training for the upcoming 70.3 Ironman in Syracuse, NY. |
